Massage

Massage is becoming an increasingly important part of the training regime of many Sports People. One of its greatest benefits is in preventing injury. However, you do not have to be a Sports Person to benefit from the release of muscle tension that Massage can give.

In all types of massage the therapist has specific aims. As a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist, I focus on the individual needs of you, the client. With an ever-growing number of people taking part in sport, combined with its increasing competitiveness and intensity, Sports Massage is becoming more recognized as a skill that can aid recovery and enhance performance.

Remedial Massage is the most effective way of releasing tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. When received regularly this may help to prevent injuries. A constant build up of tension in muscles puts stresses on joints, ligaments and tendons, as well as the muscles themselves.

Sports People who are looking to improve performance and competitive edge, do so by training to enhance their skill, strength, stamina and speed. The aim is to systematically increase training and so subject the body to gradual overuse.

However, this overuse may often create problems in the soft tissues. If these are left to become chronic, they will not only prevent improvement but may also cause performance to suffer and finally leave the sports person susceptible to injury.

The techniques I use enable me to detect variations in muscle tissues and correct them before they cause problems and lead to injury.

As a member of the International Council of Health, Fitness and Sports Therapists, I practice to the highest standards of treatments and ethics and have full indemnity insurance.
